The Bridge is proud to announce the promotion of Keisha Tryon to Director of Housing — a role that honors her 17 years of passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to helping individuals move from homelessness to stability.
For Keisha, this work wasn’t part of her original plan.
“I entered the doors of The Bridge planning only to be here for a year,” she says with a smile.
After earning her bachelor’s in criminal justice, Keisha joined The Bridge to gain experience working with individuals with criminal backgrounds. But what began as a temporary stop soon became a calling. “While gaining the experience I needed for probation work, my interest in providing services to the unhoused grew,” she recalls.
Her passion led her to pursue a Master’s in Community Counseling, and shortly after, she accepted a new role in recovery case management at The Bridge. From there, Keisha’s focus shifted toward housing and helping Guests secure permanent homes and stability.
“We were asked to seek out housing opportunities for the unhoused, and this created a spark inside me,” she says.
Keisha was soon invited to join The Housing Team as a Housing Case Manager, where she quickly excelled and was promoted to Lead Housing Case Manager, and now Director of Housing.
“This promotion signifies recognition of hard work and dedication,” Keisha says of her new role as Director of Housing. “It is heartwarming to know that I am seen as a valuable asset to the organization. It allows me to strengthen the housing department and create new housing opportunities for our Guests.”
Through each role, Keisha has remained deeply connected to the mission and to the people The Bridge serves. One of her most memorable moments came when she was nominated for Case Manager of the Year in 2018.
“We sometimes do this work without realizing the impact we have on the guests we encounter,” she says. “My former guest Gwendlyn gave her testimonial during the ceremony expressing her thankfulness for having me as a case manager. She said she didn’t think she would still be alive if I hadn’t motivated and encouraged her the way I did. Love and kindness can definitely heal wounds.”
Those words have stayed with Keisha ever since serving as a reminder of why she continues to pour her heart into her work every day.
“I’m passionate about this work,” she shares. “And I think The Bridge is the right place to invest my time and skills. They care about the growth and well-being of their staff as much as the guests we serve.”
After 17 years of service, Keisha Tyron’s journey at The Bridge stands as a testament to growth, compassion, and the power of perseverance. Her story reminds us that sometimes the path we don’t plan becomes the one we were meant to walk— and for Keisha, that path has helped hundreds of individuals find their way home.
